My mind is a blank. No opinions. No thoughts. The only recent memory is of Battlestar Galactica the updated miniseries. I watched it last night and it was fantastic. Another story set in wartime. Unlike the HBO miniseried The Pacific which is set during World War II, Battlestar Galactica is set lightyears into the future. Instead of imperialist Japan, the enemy is an advance race of manmade machines, known as Cylons.
But both TV series are heavy on humanity, a great portrayal of the human spirit, and examples of human strength. The series is known to delve into the concept of God and humans playing God.
The sexy human-looking Cylon villainess is often preaching stuff about God, much to the bewilderment of her human lover, a scientist guy who unknowingly divulges his planet's defence secrets before finding out about his lover's true identity.
Another lead chatacter, a woman cabinet member played by Mary Macdonnel (who acted in the 1990 film Dances with Wolves). She just found out that she has cancer, but later the world is at war and she chooses to take charge of a civilian spacecraft when it is trapped between space and its home planet..
All wonderful drama with kick ass action to boot.
But I get lethargic after watcvhing the two hour long pilot of the series. That is just me I suppose.
But really, else from Galactica, which stirs emotions rather than any cerebral functions, nothing is going on in my brain.
It is now dinnertime on a Tuesday and I am contemplating whether I should restart my piano lessons. I was all excited and determined months ago but now I am thinking of just quiting. But where is the fun in that?
