I really need a cigarette. Do I need to listen to what the world tells me? As in that episode of How I Met Your Mother?
Do we all dream of becoming astronauts when we are little only to settle for being an insurance agent? Your guess is as good as mine.
Does the One really exist? Or do we make do with whoever we have because deep down, we are scared shitless to die alone?

Hello Hayden,

Yeah, we've all been there... they tell us that we can be whoever we wanted to be...they ask us, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"...then we work our assess off just so that we can get that desk-job in an air-conditioned room...doing shit...the world is such a fucked up place...what's worse is that most people are just too damn lame to admit that they're just as fucked up as the next guy...it's pathetic.

What did you mean when you said 'the One'?

Were you talking about God? Yes, I do believe that the One exists.

If you were talking about a person, I do not believe that such a person exists. He or she may be the one for five years or the one for forty years or heck, the one for two nights BUT never the One (with a capital 'O').

Life is a journey and we will meet a lot of 'the ones' along the way. Probably, when we are dying (on our deathbed hopefully, and not under the wheels of a lorry or in a plane crash) we will eventually know who is the one.

I sure hope that when that day comes, I will think of the One, instead of the one.

Anonymous 1, a desk job in air conditioned office ain't that bad. It pays the bills. It pays for the vacation. It pays the tip for the one-hour ancient Thai masaages. And it'll probably make you a helluva lot appealing than someone with no stable job.

But, we need to decide if he money makes us contented. Argh....those above scenarios are my wretched comfort zone.

Anonymous 2, Praise the Lord. May the Lord bless you for thy comment.

Hey Hayden,

Stable jobs are good. It pays the bills and all the other expenditures. If you think that jobs (and your entire existence, for that matter) are for paying bills, by all means--

But I don't find that it makes you more appealing, especially if you're constantly complaining all the time about the said 'stable job'.

Perhaps that stable job has caused you to become unstable. I find that instability in a person quite unappealing. It's not difficult to see if someone was unstable. Most people will tend to avoid you, except in fair-weather situations and work. So who cares about the stable job anyway?

I'm not saying that stable jobs are all bad, it's just sometimes it brings out the worst in some people. Especially when it was clearly mismatched to what you really were meant to do in life.

But I guess, it does pay the bills. That I cannot deny.

I agree with Anon 1 too, but you don't have to be so negative about everything. Perhaps what you need is more balance in your life, a center. Strive for better stability and control over your own destiny. Try to rid yourself of useless patterns of behavior and slowly get rid of all addictions (what were you addicted to anyway?). Slowly, allow true happiness and peace back into your life.

p/s; Anon 2, you sound like a Republican. You're not one of those Jesus persons are you?

Oh, apparently am not done yet.

The One does exist. Argue as you want and may, but whoever you end up with in marriage is The One. The problem starts when ppl start second-guessing, and think they're someone else better-suited for them out there. Our match is assigned by the All-Seer, but our deeds determine how it'll go down. 55 years of bliss, or 6 months of hell, it's all up to us. As we are not able to see beyond our naked eyes and our hunches are just based on experience, we wonder and experiment and assume that our kindred is only someone with the same tastes or wavelength. It is impossible to guess who may fit you well, who complements you best. Hollywood movies have for so long tailored our minds to believe that only attainment of certain ideals can help us determine The One. Fix yourself, and Allah will fix you up.
