Watching Baby Driver reminded me that reviews on Rolling Stone mean squat when you don't see the actual movie. Yes, I was so attracted by how the magazine wrote about the movie. But watching it made me realise the biggest reason it got a raved review was because it is a total Rock 'n Roll kinda movie. And Rolling Stone is the definitive Rock 'n Roll kinda magazine. Freakin' slant. They are promoting that whole aesthetic: music, the beat, the Rock 'n Roll, the Motown, that version of Americana. Which makes the movie a perfect form of escapism, I guess. Damn that Rock 'n Roll. And damn that movie.
