Imagine dropping all your college plans just to follow someone you have a crush on. Well that's the setting of Felicity, a TV drama popular during the late 90s and early 2000s.
It starts out very innocently at high school graduation, when Felicty (Keri Russell) becomes the class valedictorian while Ben (Scott Speedman) is, well, the school hunk.
Anyways Felicity is all set to take pre-medicine at Stamford in California. Right after the commencement ceremony, Felicity asks Ben, " Where are you going to college?" Ben says that he plans to study in New York.

OK, that's not the point. The thing is Felicity was this studious smart girl who was always top in her class but never popular. She always had this secret crush on the athletic and handsome Ben.

So OK lah, since everyone's going separate ways, Felicty decides to ask Ben to autograph her yearbook. But instead of just giving an autograph, Ben actually writes a mini-letter inside her yearbook.
Ben writes:

.."I've noticed you for many years, and wondered what kind of person you were, etc etc.., you were always writing or drawing inside your notebook..I won't say keep in touch, because we never have...etc..good luck..."

So apa lagi, Felicity terus macam tak percaya. And before you know it she makes the BIGGEST decision of her life: she ditches pre-med and enrols in the same university in New York.

Of course what follows is confusion and drama lah, especially when her parents find out the truth. But it's interesting to see Felicity go through the changes in her life. And Felicty being the understanding/neurotic/smart/articulate person she is, it's very fun to watch.

The show's trademark is the slow-motion visuals especially of Ben.
And also when Felicty meets her male equal: Noel, the witty resident advisor. Then there's Felicty's other friends. The vulnerable sweetheart, Julie; the determined pre-med student, Elena; the weirdo roomate, Megan and also the hillarious cafe owner, Felicity's boss Javier.

Just like what Beverly Hills 90210 was to high school kids, Felicity is one of few shows dedicated to college-going youngsters. Though it no longer exists, it provided some nice night-time TV during its heyday.

NOTE: The reason I'm writing this is that I bought the complete first season of Felicity on DVD. It's so going down memory lane. But really, it also feels like a million years ago. University? College? Been there, done that. Back then it was like watching yourself on TV. But now it's just a TV show with characters I love.
