Really, darlings, the nominations this year are so boring for us the regular TV viewers. Yes, the movies up for Best Picture are thought -provoking and monumental. But honey, homosexuality, racism, terrorism; make for great movie fare but not for awards night. Let's pray that jon Stewart won't fuck it up come March 5. Not that he could ever. i think he once hosted the Grammys. And he is kick-ass with political jokes, so expect a lot of Bush's Bullshitting Banter.
Hey, Stewart, one thing you could do is dress up as a cowboy and sing some songs with a guitar. Yeeehaw! I mean, there are four actors who wore cowboys hats nominated for acting awards this year.
There is Johnny Cash and his wife June (played by Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon)- both up for Best lead Actor and Actress respectively. And of course the other two cowboys--Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal-- oooh, two cowboy couples!
And I believe, the awards will go the cowboy way. At least for Best Picture and Director. The acting awards? I think it'll go the way of the Screen Actor's Guild. Witherspoon won the Screen Actor's Guild Award, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman won the Best Actor.
Many first timers this year. Witherspoon, George Clooney, Rachel Weisz, Phillip seymour Hoffman, Matt Dillon! Kiera Knightley! Felicity Huffman!
And first-timers sometime win. Gwyneth Paltrow did it. So did Halle Barry and Kim Basinger and Helen Hunt. Ooops, did I just mention the 'Won Oscar and Never Heard from Again' list? Sorry....
