Bersempena dengan Madonna's birthday on August 16, tuan hamba ingin membuat kajian terhadap sebuah lagunya yang lama. Judul lagu "Till Death Do Us Part" daripada album "Like A Prayer" tahun 1989. Critics and fans alike agreed that the song was about Madonna's marriage with actor Sean Penn at that time.
These two stars married during the late 1980s until divorcing just before the 1990s began. But what the tabloids don't tell you is the inner workings of the marriage. The song "Till Death Do Us Part" offers a peek at the relationship. I am not judging the marriage because I'm no expert in the matter. What I'm trying to do is write about how the song and album was absolutely fabulous.
Mind you, the song and album came out almost 20 years ago, but gosh, the songs are very deep and very catchy. Maybe it's just me, but Like A Prayer had great pop songs. I love "Cherish" , "Like A Prayer" and "Express Yourself". "Dear Jessie" is so cute and adorable that you wonder how Madonna could be so child-like: it's like the song was meant for a children's TV show.
"Keep It Together" is such a fucking catchy song about being the middle child of a huge family. Have I mentioned it's fucking catchy? The thing is, listening to the album today, the songs still sound fresh. The themes are all fresh and timeless.
The album covered everything about Madonna's life. Relationships. Check. Loss of parent. Check. Witty pillow talk between lovers, as evident in the duet with Prince "Love Song". CHECK.
Maybe you guys never heard the album before because only Madonna fans would have bought the cassette back then. But it's worth a listen. By the way, a good friend of mine pointed out the album sleeve was scented with perfume (You know who you are).
The album is more than 19 years old now, but it's still lovely today.
Rolling Stone magazine described it the album as "as close to art as pop music gets."

Fast forward 11 years later, and Madonna finds her soulmate in movie director Guy Richie. But, of course , we all know that that relationship is also on the rocks. And Madonna's latest album Hard Candy has songs which indicate a distant spouse (particularly the song "Miles Away).
