Jake (Part Six)

He kissed her cheeks. He sniffed her neck. He nibbled on her ears. She was facing the ceiling, her eyes round, big and brown. She closed her eyes and snuggled in his arms. She was in front, while Jake was enveloping her from behind. They laid now sideways. It was early morning and all was silent. The air was still.

He sat down in front of Jake and stared at him for a long time, trying to guess what was wrong.

He stared.

"You can do anything you want to do. You are bound by nothing. The sky is the limit, the stratosphere, space. You can do anything. Anything."

Jake was looking at the floor, with a face that looked sad, stressed and worried all at once.

"You hear me? You work hard. I've seen how you work. You work so damn hard. And you are fearless in your diligence."

"You hear me. Now you listen to me, Goddammit. You are going to be so successful and happy one day, you won't know it. You've got what it takes. You are brave, but you don't seem it, because that's the type of person you are, Jake. And it's alright to be whoever you are. Who the fuck cares what other people think."

Jake stared at the floor, his eyes welling up. Jake looked at him in the eye. He always looked at a person with his intent eyes. Bad habit.

"Are you listening to me...."

"Fuck you!" Jake's tears were now visible. "I always fucking listen to you, Goddammit. Fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck you. Fuccckk you!" Jake grabbed the man's shoulders, crumpling the fabric of his grey t-shirt.
"Fuck You! FUCK.. YOU!"

Jake looked straight at him while he said this. All the anger, all the fear, all the sorrow, all the pain, all the love. It was all around now.

"You can do anything you set your mind to. Follow you heart. You are bound by nothing," the man was practically eating, consuming every word he was saying. Every syllable was stressed. His voice was coarse.

Jake's eyes shifted focus.

"You are bound by nothing," said the man, his eyes welling up.

Gavin and Jake were now staring at each other again. Both equally drunk, but Gavin insisted on another bottle of Bud.
Jake accepted the offer without hesitation. Calmly, he took the bottle which Gavin now offered him. It was a second. Less than that, maybe. a split second. But for Jake it seemed like forever
